and the poem:
I am a mere mouse,
I live in a card house,
And I am troubled by things.
But it’s hard not to feel small
When the portraits on your wall
Are of great Queens and Kings.
-
I am so proud of my house,
You’ll agree, for a mouse,
I have quite a collection of things.
But no matter what I amass
It is still nothing, alas,
To rival the riches of King’s.
-
I keep quiet as a mouse,
Even in my own house!
I’m afraid I’m obsessed with these things…
But a mouse could do worse
Than write poems in verse
Dreaming of castles and Kings.
